It may not seem like much to most, but we were SO excited about our porch when we moved in to our new place. It has been empty for the past few months, mainly because ofthe fear of rain coming with El Nino. As we move into spring, however, we figured it was time to finally furnish our bare porch. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to work with Pier 1once again this year to create a fun outdoor space! The theme I chose was beach-inspired, which is perfect for both our area and our style! I decided to incorporate reds into the space, giving it a more Chesapeake feel, along with light blues and dark wicker. Needless to say, I’m in love! It feels like an extension of our indoor rooms as well.
I just fell in love with that pelican, whom I affectionately refer to as “Merle” – I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time together this summer! I’m dreaming of days spent reading on our new loveseat with a glass of wine, and dinners eaten at our new red bistro set. We’ve lived here since August, but haven’t really spent much time out here. I chose the bistro set so that we could entertain both indoors and out, and thought the red would brighten the space – it’s just too drab with the dull wood. The blue rug means that we can bring the baby out as well, once the weather gets warmer. I’m already planning a mini clam-bake for a few friends to celebrate the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Instead of a big pot of seafood, however, I have a few appetizers in mind that are influenced by the same concept. Our porch may be small, but I’m thinking big!
