The Perfect Margarita

Cinco de Mayo is this week, which means that my obsession with margaritas will be, for once, completely understandable. It’s funny – my husband is the mixologist in the family, but I think that I make the best margaritas. The secret…is that there is no secret! Strip down the recipe to the basics, and you really have the perfect margarita.

All it takes for a perfect margarita is lime, Cointreau, tequila, and ice. Shake together and serve for a delicious Cinco de Mayo treat!

I’m not really a fan of adding salt to the rim of my margaritas (I know, blasphemy), so that’s completely optional. I do believe, however, that margaritas should be sour and cold, so be warned! This one isn’t for the faint of heart. If you really need it to be a little sweeter, some agave nectar or a shot of Grand Marnier will do the trick. Otherwise, pucker up and enjoy!

What is your idea of the perfect margarita? Will you be partaking this fine Cinco de Mayo weekend?
