Ginger & Chamomile Gin Sour Cocktail Recipe

A few weeks ago, before Robert’s ten year high school reunion, we meet some friends for cocktails at one of our favorite places in Downtown Fullerton, the Cellar. They always have the best cocktails, and this trip didn’t disappoint. As soon as I got home, I knew that I HAD to recreate the ginger + chamomile gin sour that I had. And I nailed it! You’re welcome.

Ginger and Chamomile Gin Sour
Ingredients for the syrup
  1. 2 chamomile tea bags
  2. 1 cup water
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 1/2 cup peeled and grated fresh ginger
Directions for the syrup
  1. 1. Brew a strong cup of chamomile tea (recommended 2 tea bags for 8 ounces of water, steeped for 30 minutes).
  2. 2. Once the tea is brewed, combine with ginger and sugar in a saucepan.
  3. 3. Bring to a simmer and remove from heat. Strain through a fine mesh strainer.
Ingredients for the cocktail
  1. 1/2 oz Ginger Chamomile syrup
  2. 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  3. 2 oz gin
  4. 1 egg white
  5. Angostura bitters
Directions for the cocktail
  1. 1. In a chilled cocktail shaker, combine the egg white, gin, lemon juice, and syrup and shake until the egg white is frothy, about 1 minute.
  2. 2. Add ice and shake again until chilled, about 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Strain into a pretty tea cup and garnish with a few dashes of Angostura bitters.
  1. Some people aren't sure about the raw egg white, but the citrus and alcohol kill any bacteria that could be harmful! Plus, it makes it taste delicious.

    1. We love chamomile tea in our nest make it every day this summer with some ice cubes to cool off. Will have to try it with the happy juice too…Cheers!
