My goodness, so much has changed since my last post! I had all of these high hopes for my blog when I relaunched back in June, but life happens. And, if you’re lucky, you gain clarity as to what is supposed to be. As much as I miss blogging like it used to be, I have to recognize that it’s 2018. Things are different now. Instead of being too nostalgic to function, I’m trying to move forward.
Robert and I made the decision to move to Ojai over the summer. Though it’s only about a half hour from where we used to live, it could almost be another world. No Target, no chain restaurants, lots of green. I like to say I wanted to move here because it’s the closest thing I can get to a small town in southern California, and it’s so very true. I’m already starting to see people I know at the grocery store or park, and Remi has found the most amazing school. We are obsessed.
One of my favorite things about our new home is how close we are to basically everything. Ojai isn’t big, and there aren’t a ton of things to do, but the character. What is here is far from commercial. It is, shall I say, charming?
We discovered Tipple and Ramble a few weeks after moving. It’s one of those places that you won’t find unless you’re actually looking for it, mainly because it’s in a house off the main street. There are a lot of those types of places, and I still have so much left to discover!
I could spend all afternoon here, enjoying a bottle of rosé in the hammock with a good book. While technically a wine bar, Tipple and Ramble does serve food on the weekends. If you happen to be here on a Saturday or Sunday, I HIGHLY recommend the veal meatballs or grilled cheese sandwich. Stopping in on a weekday? Oh, don’t worry. They still have the most amazing empanadas.
Robert and I are updating our backyard soon, and I’m going to be modeling it after the patio at Tipple and Ramble. Everything from the vintage airstream trailer to the tropical prints to the daiana umbrellas are a dream. It’s like walking into another world.
If you ever find yourself in Ojai, which (let’s be honest), you should, definitely seek out Tipple and Ramble. You won’t be disappointed. If anything, you’ll spend so much time relaxing that you’ll be sad you didn’t check out any of the other amazing places here!
Definitely let me know if you ever come visit! I would love to show you around to my favorite places.
